To choreograph a song in ‘Lagaan’ Terence Lewis learned waltz from Saloni Roy Kapoor!
Celebrated choreographer #TerenceLewis has become synonymous with great dancing and choreography. His amazing work can be seen in notable Bollywood films and he continues to leave his mark with some commendable choreography even today! So, when Terence Lewis graces the upcoming episode of Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show with Geeta Kapur and Malaika Arora to promote the second season of India’s Best Dancer, host Kapil Sharma couldn’t help but ask him whether he ever had to learn a dance form before teaching someone else… and Terence obliged with an anecdote!
Terence Lewis said, “Actually ek film ke liye hua hai. Lagaan key liye hua tha. Main Waltz nahi karta, I don’t teach waltz lekin, pata nahi Reena, jo producer thi, unko laga ki mera naam Terence Lewis hai toh waltz toh aana chahiye yaar” (laughs).
He continued, “Toh maine bola, seekh kar aata hoon main. Saloni Roy Kapur hai, Siddharth Roy Kapur ki maa, unhone mujhe sikhaya woh bhi Viennese waltz jo athaarvi sadi (18th century) ka waltz tha. Toh woh seekh kar phir main Bhuj gaya wahan pe sabko sikhaya Aamir ko, actress ko aur phir wahan se meri gaadi nikal padi as a choreographer.”
On being asked by the host how old he was when he had to choreograph for ‘Lagaan’ which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, Terence Lewis said that he was only 25!
The Kapil Sharma Show airs every weekend at 9:30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
