Trishaan on Loot Kaand, “The real preparation came in understanding the darkness behind the character”!

Actor Trishaan whose known for his intense and layered performances in McMafia, Kaun Pravin Tambe?, and Kaala, recently captivated audiences with his role in MX Player’s Loot Kaand. As he also appears in #Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, Trishaan reflects on the deep and demanding preparation he underwent to portray his unsettling character in Loot Kaand.

Speaking about the challenge of stepping into the role of a football coach with a dark, complex personality, Trishaan shared, “Preparing for this character was a deeply challenging and thought-provoking process. Since I was playing a football coach, I focused on understanding the authority and influence that comes with such a role, especially in shaping young minds. Beyond the physical aspects of being a coach, I wanted to explore the psychological layers: the sense of power, the entitlement, and the subtle ways in which authority can be misused.”

For Trishaan, bringing authenticity to the role required more than just physical preparation. He delved into the silent, unsettling aspects of his character’s personality, making his presence felt even in moments of stillness. “The real preparation came in understanding the darkness behind the character. I worked a lot on internalizing the silence, the moments where he says nothing but conveys everything through a glance or a shift in posture. I didn’t want to play him as overtly evil but rather as someone who believes in his own justifications, which makes him even more unsettling.”

The role also gave Trishaan an opportunity to explore deeper themes of patriarchy and male entitlement, adding further complexity to his portrayal. “The layers of patriarchy and male entitlement added another dimension, making the performance more nuanced. It was a tough role to slip into and even harder to leave behind after the camera stopped rolling. I hope the audience feels the tension and discomfort that this character brings to the story.”

He credited the show’s director, #RuchirArun, and his co-actor #TanyaManiktala for their immense support in shaping his performance. “I was very well guided by my director Ruchir Arun and greatly supported by a super talented co-actor, Tanya Maniktala, as I had all my scenes with her.”

Having already left audiences impressed with his portrayal in Loot Kaand, Trishaan continues his journey with Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, further cementing his reputation as an actor who brings authenticity and depth to every role.
