US based Ashvini Bhave helps Mumbai based Marathi Theatre backstage crew
Everything is closed in the world due to Covid-19 pandemic. There are no shoots and all the artists are cooling their heels at home. Marathi theatre, which is known for producing plays with out of the box subjects, is closed too. Sad part is, a lot of daily wage workers are dependent on this industry and as no shows happening there’s no source of income for them. The Marathi Theatre productions had to cancel their shows, tours due to multiple lockdowns and the turmoil is yet to conclude. This has severely impacted the financial situation of the members of the Marathi theatre, especially the backstage artistes and crew who survive on daily wages.
Veteran actress Ashvini Bhave who was last seen recently in Voot selects’ ‘The Raikar Case’, has magnanimously come forward to support around 200 backstage artist of Marathi theatre productions financially for the next four months. Theatre celebrity and actor Prashant Damle who is actively involved in assisting Marathi backstage artistes thanked and recognised Ashvini Bhave’s endeavour on Social Media platforms.
According to sources, before stepping into her successful Bollywood career, Ashvini had briefly started her acting career with Marathi professional theatre and she continues to be rooted and in touch with all Marathi theatre units and artistes. The US based actress is aware about how backstage artistes must have been facing financial crises hence she has voluntarily extended her support to stand for them in these testing times.
