Vidya Balan collaborates with ‘Newton’ director for ‘Sherni’
Director Amit Masurkar’s last outing Newton was hailed by everybody, including critics. In fact it was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. He won the Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Screenplay for this film. Vidhya Balan was last seen in Mission Mangal. She liked the idea of playing Tara Shinde, a seemingly ordinary homemaker who balances her family life with her work as a scientist. She was also pleased to work with four other leading ladies, viz. Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulkarni and Sonakshi Sinha, which she believed was rare in Hindi films
