Vidya Balan’s look at the Ambani wedding was a homage to the grandness of Indian craftsmanship!
At the recent Ambani wedding gala, we saw a few of the finest ethnic outfits. From archival pieces to sustainable fashion, the fashion o-meter was high, and how! In this whirlwind of the high profile event, there was one actor who stood out, not just because of her celebrity power but also for her outfit, which paid tribute to craftsmanship and elegance. At the Ashirwad ceremony, Vidya Balan stole the show in a stunning yellow ghagra from a custom re-ceremonial, which was a perfect amalgamation of traditional and modern elegance. There was not one fashion enthusiast who missed this look!
Wondering what’s so special about the ghagra? It’s the making of this fabulous ensemble and its back story that make it the talk of the town. The actor wore a Gulrez choli, which boasted intricate hand embroidery using metal threads and glass beads. It took a total of 100 days to give life to this breathing piece. Paired with this exquisite choli was an equally beautiful ghagra. Vidya wore the Indira Assi Kali ghaghra, which was meticulously crafted using silk cotton Chanderi. The ghagra bragged of a majestic 24-meter circumference and was adorned with intricate Lampi Gota detailing along the edges, giving it the opulence and grandeur that it deserved! Taking it a notch higher, Vidya opted for two dupattas for the draping style. The first was a silk organza chunri adorned with metal sikka kaam, while the other was a silver dupatta made of silk tissue using recycled cotton Himroo pallus edged with Gota. What makes the outfit all the more interesting is the fact that the fabrics used for this attire were dyed using marigold petals offered at the Siddhivinayak temple. This thoughtful touch reflects the actor’s commitment to sustainability and sustainable fashion.
To complement the majestic outfit, Vidya Balan chose to accessorize the look with antique statement jhumkas and a matching maangtika, while stacks of heavy Indian bangles and bracelets adorned her wrist. To add a final touch, she carried a beautifully crafted potli bag.For her hair, the actor kept it classy yet fuss-free with a fishtail braid, with flower bands around it and a piece of hair ornament. She opted for a simple base, kajol-defined eye makeup, brown lips, and a tiny bindi, bringing balance to the whole look.
Vidya Balan’s look was not just another fashion statement. It was a homage to the grandness of Indian craftsmanship and rich heritage. With the sustainable touch, she also made her voice heard loud and clear about recycling and sustainable fashion. With the grace and magnificent aura that she possesses, the actor truly let her outfit shine and grabbed the spotlight!
