C OVER STORY
D o you find any similarities
and/or differences in
Singham, Simmba and
Sooryavanshi ?
All of them approach
situations individualistically as all three
come from different backgrounds. But
their motto is the same, eradication
of crime from the society. Moreover
all three are in uniform. I am doing all
out action after a long time. But it was
like playing in an amusement park.
My favourite helicopter shot also was
thrilling.
Akshay your name is associated with
great collections. Your last film ‘Good
Newwz’ too did stupendous business
I think, the subject of IVF was never
explored in indian films, and it’s not
handled in Hollywood films too, so far.
It’s a tricky subject and surprisingly
parents took their children along to
see the film. It could be termed as
an educational film. Sex is no more a
taboo word. It’s part of the curriculum
in schools now. Because the subject
was a bit serious comic take on it was
essential. I am happy audience liked the
film.
One of your most famous songs ‘Tip
Tip Basra...’ is being recreated in
Sooryavanshi. How was it doing it with
Katrina after a long gap ?
It was an iconic song and in the era
of remixes it’s been recreated. Of
course I enjoyed doing it. Katrina and
I are working together after a decade
and it was great reunion. It was fun
working with Katrina Kaif since we have
previously shared screen space. She
has a meaty role in ‘Sooryavanshi’.
Over the years she has grown as an
actor. She has done so brilliantly well
in one of the emotional scenes that I
have become a big fan of Katrina Kaif.
A girl who did not know a single word
of Hindi when she entered industry, is
now working with all the top actors and
directors in the film industry. Hats off to
her.
