I have always admired work of yesteryear’s directors Subhash
Ghai, J P Dutta, Rajkumar Santoshi, Mukul Anand because i
feel they showed us real commercial cinema.

How is your equation with producer Sajid Nadiadwala ?
He’s a gem of a person. He never asks questions. He never
visits sets. Only once he came on sets when we were shooting
in Serbia, that too only for an hour. I had requested for 40-50
cars for an action sequence and the requirement went up to
400 cars. His team arranged for 400 cars, which you see in
the sequence.You can’t hire old cars there so all were bought.
I was flabbergasted but Sajid or anybody from his team never
asked a single question. That’s the magnanimity this guy
possesses. ‘Woh bharpur Kamata hai, vaisehi kharcha bhi
karta hai’.

A lot of old songs are being recreated. Which one you’ll
want to recreate ?
I would love to recreate my own song ‘Yahi Re....’ from
Rangeela. I just love the lyrics. Choreographing it will be
amazing. Like mentioned earlier it involves direction and my
journey from choreographer to director is an achievement. I
love being action film director but I’ll never direct a dance film.
Instead I’ll direct 4-5 songs and make some money (laughs).

Incidentally Ahmed Khan will be reuniting with Tiger Shroff
and Producer Sajid Nadiadwala once again For “Heropanti 2’
which is slated for release on 16th July 2021. n
