“I don’t mind doing strong was it dancing with them ?
supportive roles. I have done Frankly I didn’t have any dancing sequence in the film. ‘Bhankas’
song is picturised during a wedding. I was the ‘dulhan’. The
supporting roles in both my films song is so foot-tapping that I couldn’t sit still in the scene and
but my next you’ll see me playing requested them to let me dance. Director and choreographer
were sweet enough to let me do a few steps. It was a task,
lead” though, to manage my heavy ‘Lehenga’ and dance. But I was
happy that I was getting to dance. I would love to dance on
screen with Tiger and Shraddha.
Recent times are good for supporting actors as a lot of
interesting stuff is being written keeping them in mind. Are
you trying to be in that zone ?
I am trying for nothing. I don’t mind doing
strong supportive roles. I have done
supporting roles in both my films but my
next you’ll see me playing lead. I must say,
essaying good roles is very important,
but just to be a prop to hero is not on my
agenda. I am keen on doing performance
oriented roles, it’s important for me.
You have worked on small screen and big
screen too. Any differences ?
Television teaches you to perform. The
time given for preparation is minuscule but
films offer you months to do groundwork
for your role. On television you learn to
perform through process but are unaware
of the character-graph, unlike films. I have
learnt acting on sets which is beneficial now
while performing on big screen. Films allow
you to build your character but I have built
my character every day on television despite
different directors directing different episodes.
You are a Maharashtrian and speak marathi.
Have you toyed the idea of doing Marathi
films ?
No doubt marathi films are known for their
content laden scripts and I would love to
do marathi films, in future. Right now I am
concentrating on my Bollywood career. When my
career here gets steadied, I’ll think of exploring
regional space.
What do you think of your ‘acting’ journey so
far ?
I certainly feel proud of myself. I hail from a small
town, Indore, though it’s not so small now, and
pride in my parent’s eyes means a world to me.
